Game 20 - Georgetown vs, Florida Gulf Coast University 2013
For the better part of the prior three decades, Georgetown was both a talented and physical basketball team. Known for producing a veritable pipeline of NBA big men and Allen Iverson, the Hoyas had not reached the same heights in the Tournament of the 80's in some time. The 2013 team looked well-positioned to change that. Led by current NBA star Otto Porter Jr., Georgetown drew a school in only its second year of Tournament eligibility. If this sounds like a mismatch, it wasn't.
The Eagles had gained a small cult following in the 2012-13 season owing at least in part to their fast paced, alley-oop filled offense that lent itself to the "Dunk City" moniker bestwoed upon them. Former Johns Hopkins (Division 3) coach Andy Enfield led the Eagles into this game looking to shock the world.
As an aside, I vividly recall calling the manager of the hypothetical sports book I used at the time asking (demanding) he give me a money line on FGCU. He refused. I still won a bunch of money betting the spread and parlaying this game with others , but not nearly as much as I could have.
Anyways, here is the game in full. Enjoy.
