Game 5 - Kentucky vs. UAB 2006
Game Five of our event features another traditional power who had fallen on hard times in the Kentucky Wildcats. An 8 seed in this particular tournament, they were slated to face a UAB team which had been a particular nemesis of the Wildcats in NCAA Tournament play, winning the previous two matchups. The Blazers were led by an excellent defense, which was particularly adept at creating turnovers - 21 per game on average. The Wildcats did a great job of protecting the basketball, however, only committing eight turnovers in this game. The margin in this game really came down to the free-throw line, where the Wildcats were 26-of-30, and UAB just 9-for-17. In the end, Kentucky was able to survive and advance, 69-62.
