Game 3 - Michigan vs. Clemson 2009
The once mighty Michigan had seen some hard times in the years prior to 2009, not qualifying for the tournament at all in the preceding decade. Clemson were widely thought to be a favorite in this matchup, led by do-it-all big man Trevor Booker. However, the Tigers were coming off of their worst stretch of the season, had over a week off prior to this game, and had not seen a defense like the zone employed by the Wolverines in ACC play. The zone defense confounded the Tigers, who shot an uncharacteristically low 32.3% from the field as a team. Michigan would go on to win and move to the second round. Some highlights are below.
